Our regional digital strategy is almost complete, with formal publication due in summer 2019. The final document will outline ambitions and plans for how technology, specifically digital systems and services, can improve how and where care is provided over the next five years.
Progress to date includes the development of a specification for a new IT solution to enable the reporting of images, including x-rays and scans, in an integrated way across the north east and north Cumbria. The solution will also enable coordination of associated workloads and activity. A regional procurement process will take place soon to identify a suitable provider for this service.
Great North Care Record
The Great North Care Record is a new way of sharing medical information between authorised health and social care practitioners across the north east and north Cumbria.
It means that key information such as: diagnoses, medication, details of hospital admission and treatment can be shared easily and securely, any time of the day or night, between different health care providers involved in an individual’s care, including hospitals, out of hours and ambulance services.
A new animation has been launched to explain the next phase of the Great North Care Record.
