The Topol review (as described in Lisa Critchton-Jones’ presentation)
The report of the review into the future of technology in the NHS, commissioned by the Secretary of State for health and social care and led by Dr Eric Topol, has been published.
The review sets out an ambitious vision for digital transformation across the NHS workforce, and explores the implications of digital developments in the NHS.
This briefing summarises recommendations made in the review, including:
- How to prepare and train the healthcare workforce to transform the way they care for patients, diagnose and treat diseases, and prevent illness from developing
- How to attract and retain staff in specialist roles for the implementation of new technology in the NHS
- The skills and behaviours required at the board level to support organisation-wide digital transformation.
The recommendations set out in the report will have implications for trust boards and staff.
